We as a club sponsor numerous events throughout a normal year.
We hold our monthly club meeting on the third Thrusday at 7PM, at the
Salvation Army School located in Grass Valley.
We meet for a monthly Fun Fly on the first Saturday of each month at Hook
Field. During the cooler months we start around 9AM. During the
warmer months Electric powered aircraft may start as early as 7AM with
liquid fuel powered aircraft at
9AM.
Some months we will have contests such as egg drops, limbo tape, number of
landings in a time limit and more. We sell ourselves lunch for $5.00
which includes hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, chilli, drinks, and sometimes ice
cream. We are always watching for actions that will nominate someone
for the DUMB THUMB AWARD at our next meeting, we can be mercifuless.
We sponsor two Float Flys each year. The first in April at Rollin's
Reservior. It's a good time seeing those who haven't been out much
during the cooler months.
The second is at the end of the warmer months during October. It's
held at Scott's Flat Reservior. The boat traffic is off the water and
the water is calm.
Each year one of the two full scale airports in our communities will
sponsor an airshow. We participate with a booth and static display.
We hold a raffel and meet a bunch of great people who are interested in the
same thing we are AIRPLANES.
